Who Cares About the Scale?

“Life is not about body fat and muscle tone.

It’s about where our hearts are at and His grace alone.

It’s not about the mirror or any other measurement,

but in our service to others, reflecting the Son He sent.

We’re called to honor the body,

but not for our praise or reward.

We’re just simple, humble stewards, on a mission for the Lord.

So eat right, train hard, but don’t forget your purpose,

God sees your heart and not what’s on the surface.”

This was quoted from The PrayFit Diet.  I don’t have the book but I get their daily devotional and I love the message they share.  It’s not about diet, it’s not about your size, or what the scale says it’s about honoring God in how we take care of this incredible body He’s knit together.  It’s about seeking Him in every area of our life for His glory to be revealed.  I am just a work in progress, God keeps shaping and molding my life if I let Him one day at a time.  So throw out that scale and live each day to glorify and honor God with all the blessings He has given us!

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Colossians 3:23

What a great message to start 2014!

This is the first day of the Jesus Calling for kids devotional that I read  (almost) every morning with my kids. When we start the day with God’s truth it’s amazing how that can affect our attitude.  My challenge this year is to start every day in God’s presence, quietly seeking Him and His will for my day and my life and letting the noise of the world grow dim.  I know that this is the key to every other struggle in my world – food, money, relationships, wants, desires, frustrations.  Only God can fill and heal all the areas I struggle with and even the area’s I don’t even realize I struggle with.

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”John 16:33

Hope you have an amazing 2014!

Here I am

Then I said,“Here I am, I have come- it is written about me in the scroll,  I desire to do your will, O my God;  your law is within my heart.”

Psalm 40:7-8

What if we woke up each morning with prayer on our heart, how different our days would be.  Here I am – that is so strong, it is standing before God saying Here I am. I have come– it’s like telling God you are showing up for work. It is written about me in the scroll – I love this because it is true and reminds us how valuable we are to God. Over and over again in the bible God tells us about the book of life and our name being written in it. I desire to do your will, O my God – it is ultimately what I desire but how often do I do it or even to stay quite long enough to hear it?  Your law is within my heart- This is awesome “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11)

With all this truth in this one little prayer how can we not hang it on our mirror, put it in our car, or glue it to the refrigerator to remind us of the only thing that matters – doing the will of God!

Hope you have a great weekend!

How do you get dressed?

I’ve never been a fan of getting dressed.  I never have anything to wear and I’ve always needed to lose weight Sad smile  A little lesson I’ve learned is that it doesn’t matter what size you are or how much designer clothing you have in your closet. The only thing that helps me get dressed anymore is knowing who I am.  Before I step foot into my closet I need to dress myself with God’s truth of who I am.  I am dearly loved, made in the image of God, set apart to do a good work and the list goes on.  Satan can’t touch me when I’m dressing myself in God’s truth.  If you stand in the mirror or your closet and think awful thoughts you need to dress yourself in God’s truth first. I got this shirt on a trip to Nashville Tennessee and I must admit I fell in love with the southern charm!  They used the word “dang” for everything and when I saw this shirt I had to have it!  This is what God has done in my life – Dang Freedom! I no longer live my life listening to Satan’s lies.  Instead I clothe myself in God’s truth and it’s dang Freedom!

Let me be sure to tell you I’m by no means perfect and Satan still tries to bring me down but I’m getting better at knowing his strategy.  It’s that voice that says “You don’t need to exercise”, “Look how fat you are?”, “One cookie won’t kill you”.  It’s these little lies that take you down a path of destruction.  It always seems harmless in the moment but I promise he will use our choices to torture us if we allow him.  So stay strong, be fully clothed in God, and tell Satan he can’t touch you!

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.          Ephesians 6:10-18
