21 Days–That’s it?!!

Here is what I’ve learned in 11 days on the 21 Day Fix and drinking Shakeology!

#1  I USED TO EAT WAY TOO MUCH FOOD!

Here is what came in the mail- little containers, did I say little? It also came with an eating plan to follow and the Shakeology (I got the challenge pack which you can see here) .  The good news it allows you to eat all the foods I already eat, the bad news is the portions are cut in half Surprised smile!!  I looked at each meal before I ate it and said to myself “I am going to die, I will be starving”….I ate my meal….walked away…..and miracle of all miracles….I’m fine!!

Ready for the next shocker, I still kinda don’t believe it myself!!!

look at the middle picture- see how the bottom screen says 11 days – that is what I weighed 11 days ago (early morning weight)  and the top weight is what it said this morning Surprised smile seriously, just like that I get rid of excess food and my body drops the excess weight?  Too good to be true but here are the other numbers TOP LEFT is BMI,  TOP RIGHT is my body’s age, BOTTOM LEFT is my body fat and BOTTOM RIGHT is my muscle mass (percentage of my body that is muscle).  I would never share my scale shots with the world but this is so impressive and unbelievable to me that I had to share so that anyone can get going on this ASAP!!!

Roughly lost 7lbs, 2% body fat, kept my muscle, and decreased my BMI and body’s age.  I’m sure some of this has to do with water retention but I don’t ever see the 130’s.

#2 YOU CAN KEEP GETTING BETTER!!

I wasn’t trying to lose weight, honestly I am so happy and thankful for where God has put me!  I tried this program truly just to help others, not realizing that it would also help me.  I run a boot camp in Perkasie and I wanted to give everyone the tools they needed to really feel their best and I was searching for a simple nutrition plan.  I don’t believe in crazy diets that cut healthy food out just for the sake of calories or lose weight quick scams.  I want people to learn to eat for life, and include all the food groups to feel the best you can and that is what this plan is!

The Shakeology has been the biggest shocker for me because I was a skeptic.  I saw the videos of how amazing it is for you and all the wonderful benefits but again at $129.00 a bag I wasn’t sold.

Sold – It cost $4 a day for a meal that curbs my cravings, gives me energy, and helps me to not feel hungry ALL day long (which in turn saves me a TON of money on extra food my body doesn’t need).  The best part is the whole family loves them.  My husband has been doing the shake and nutrition plan (started 2 days after me and ate like a horse on the 4th of July) and he is down 8 lbs Smile with tongue out men stink.  My beautiful Taylor is 6, she hates vegetables, and is always hungry like her momma.  She loves the shakes, and she now gets all her veggies in a half scoop and she is NOT as hungry!!!!  Getting all your nutrients for the day in one drink does change the rest of your day!

#3 THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THEN HELPING OTHERS FEEL THEIR BEST!!!

I am so excited that so many have already joined me on this journey to be and feel their best and I can’t wait to share their story’s as well!!

I want to help anyone who is ready to stop the weight battle forever whether you have 5 or 100 pounds to lose.  With God and the right tools I know that anything is possible.  Dream Big, don’t give up, and be the amazing person God created you to be!!!

I’m Alive

I can’t believe it is December 1stSurprised smile  The past 6 months have been a big blur. My (Shannon’s) family moved.  For some of you that may not be a big deal but it was for me.  My husband is the world’s most talented man (in my eyes).  The home we bought 11 years ago was an old farmhouse that we re-built, actually Anthony AKA my husband re-built.  We got married, had four beautiful babies in that house and I met God at that house!!  We are now renting that home to a beautiful family that seems to love it as much as we do. 

Our new home Anthony also re-built to help it accommodate our family.  This is the house I grew up in and we needed to make it our own.  Unfortunately this meant not having a husband for a long time because he would work his regular job and work on our new home at night.  Reminder we have 4 kids and we were moving (which was my responsibility).  Long story short we did it, but I could never have done it without the help and hard work of my parents.  They are the hardest workers I know and if I can do half of what they do to help my kids some day it will be a blessing!

The other big transition was going from home school to public school and so far it is going good but stressful.  That is another story that I will save for later.  All of these transitions have put my food and fitness on the back burner.  I’m thankful that I have set up some good habits and rules for myself in the food department that have kept me somewhat on track but it is still hard, not gonna lie!

oops  I’m not a fan of selfies but again I need to tell the truth.  Here is my accountability tank top.  Becca bought this for our race this summer and she got me an extra small (so sweet) except I am far from extra small.  The good news is, it fit (just barely) and we looked cute and matching for our 2nd place finishWinking smile

I am free of standing on the scale all the time, counting calories, and being crazy but I still need to be accountable for treating my body well and this little tank top hurts!!! The built in bra is squeezing me so bad that I can’t wear it, so guess what time it is?  Yup, time to tighten the reins to loosen the tank top!  No better time of the year for that then holidays Sad smile 

I thought about another accountability while reading my bible this morning and it really summed up how I feel in my daily walk with God and in this world.  It’s Ezekiel 19:10-14 I want to type it all out but I would probably lose you but here is the jest of it is.  We are like a vine planted by the water (which is a symbol of being close to God for me); it is fruitful and full of branches because of the water but when we are apart from God those strong fruitful branches whither and it is in the desert, dry and thirsty. This is how I know when I’m not keeping God first in my life.  When stress, fear, anger, and worry enter my life I know that I’m not focusing on the One who already has it all figured out.  Acts 17:24-31 gives a great perspective.

So my tank top is tight and my land is feeling a little dry but it’s never too late to start fresh each morning. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

Becca and I have both lost a lot of weight and gained muscle but our approach to food is different.  The most important thing is you listen to your body and ask God to help you crave things that will benefit you and not harm you.  I hope this helps you find some tricks to incorporate into your diet!

Ok, I love food, I’m hungry often and I hate to be hungry so this is my tricks to be satisfied, feel my best, and keep me from junk food! I try to get protein, a healthy carb, and lots of vegetables at almost every meal. 

So here it goes!

4:45am Depending on what I ate the day before and what we are doing at the gym I will sometimes grab a 1/2 of a protein bar (like a Luna or Cliff bar) to give me some fuel at the gym.

7:00am  I love breakfast and go to bed dreaming about it, weird I know.  Sometimes it’s egg whites and oatmeal but right now I’m in love with 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt (not that sugar loaded stuff), mixed with 1Tbl Chia seeds, whatever fruit I have on hand, my favorite is bananas or strawberries (nothing fresh = frozen blueberries), then a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean crunch, or Fiber One!!

10am I don’t leave the house without snacks and I love Fiber One and an apple in case I’m hungry.  So sometimes I have this and sometimes I don’t.  Listen to your hungerclip_image003

12pm Lunch sometimes happens at 11am ( I told you I’m hungry!)  It’s always leftovers- always a clean protein (homemade turkey burger, chicken, salmon), a healthy carb (brown rice, sweet potato, Quinoa), and lots of veggies that are either cooked or in a salad!

1:00pm I don’t have this in the picture but after lunch I want something sweet and I’m tired so my favorite thing to make up is a cup or two of Chai Green Tea (I just boil water and throw in tea bags) it’s the perfect afternoon pick me up!  This is a dangerous time of day because if you are tired your body naturally craves sugar for energy so if the tea doesn’t help then I move on to veggies!

2:00-5:00pm I munch on raw veggies all afternoon and I use a little Bolthouse Ranch dressing and this keeps me from eating dinner while I cook it and it fills me up so I don’t go crazy at dinner!

5:30-6:00pm Same as lunch, we have clean protein, veggies all different ways, and a healthy carb.  We will post lots of our favorite meals for you guys to enjoy!

7:00pm I have a sweet tooth and if I don’t have a little something then I’m depriving myself and I go crazy, so again BALANCE!  I make a cottage cheese dip with apples that I love, don’t worry I blend it in the blender and it’s smooth and creamy (I promise to post the recipe) or I will have just a couple almonds and dark chocolate chips if I’m craving something sweet and salty.

Wow, I eat a lot but it has gotten me to where I am today!  My rules are I stay away from too much processed food, no trigger foods in the house (things that cause me to eat way too much, example: hummus, technically healthy- but who can eat 2 Tbl. of that stuff, not me).  I drink tons of water, I have a 32 gallon jug that I try to fill 3 times, I also pee a lot :/ Lastly, I stay away from sugar I’ve loved it too much, for too long so I broke up with it! Every once in a while I do have sugar but in very small doses and I treat it with CAUTION!

I have come such a long way with my food issues (I’ll forever be a work in progress) but the most important thing to me is balance!  If I’m hungry I eat and some days that means I eat A LOT but I know the next day I probably won’t be as hungry and I’m not going to be crazy about it.  God wants us to trust Him in this and not make ourselves crazy.

“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:30

When you trust God the burden is light, and if you are still stressing, depriving, bingeing, ask yourself this –

Are you really trusting God?

I can’t believe I am sharing this photo!

  I have NEVER worn a bikini and I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life!  I have lived a life of NEVER being comfortable in my own skin, always being chubby since elementary school.  I never understood how some kids were so skinny and why I was cursed with this horrible body.  I was teased and tortured by my weight and thought I could never be healthy and fit.

I considered myself a Christian for a long time but I had no idea how much I was missing!  God woke me up about 5 years ago that life isn’t about going to church on Sunday and living your life your way.  He showed me that “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.” Mathew 16:25.  I knew I was a mess and wanted God to take my life and use it for His glory!  I began reading my bible and found a hunger for God that I have never know.  He began teaching me and transforming me in EVERY aspect of my life.

In February 2012 we had a wonderful surprise born on Valentine’s Day and this is when God began to deal with my struggle with food and my weight.  Food has always controlled me, eating too much, craving all the wrong things, and the feeling of guilt and disgust over my choices. I have said, “I will start on Monday” more then 1,000 times. I’ve been on EVERY diet, and exercise regime possible, but it was a roller coaster! This was just my issue and had nothing to do with God, or so I thought.

This is what God has shown me #1 He loves us more then we could ever dream or imagine!  His heart breaks when we struggle and He wants us to find our comfort in Him and nothing else, especially food.  #2 Satan has used food since day 1 to take us away from who God calls us to be, “Oh Eve, I get it!”  #3  Everyone struggles with something that takes them away from who God wants them to be, mine just happens to be food.  #4 God can do anything!!  When you are a child of God you have the Holy Spirit living inside you and there is NOTHING more powerful! As long as I seek God daily, stay in His will, and I’m guided by the Holy Spirit I can move mountains!!

I will forever be on this journey of trusting God for my daily choices because I am a disaster without Him.
