Move Your Body!!

If you don’t exercise, you don’t like to exercise, or you wish you had more motivation when you exercise this is for you!

Here are some tips and tricks to get excited to move your body!

#1 Make a realistic plan– get a journal, here is mine.

It’s tattered and torn but it has workouts (4 good workouts shown), bible verses, meal plans, and water and food stains throughout.  I right down moves, reps, and even what muscles were sore the next day.  Having a plan and setting goals gives you something to achieve and work towards. Not to mention it shows you how far you’ve come!  My old workout that I called “Insane Workout” is a walk in the park now!

#2 Get a friend – or 2 or 3 when Becca and I started working out it was just the two of us. It gives you accountability, encouragement, and a little competition pushes you to do more then you would on your own.

#3 No Excuses – Everyone can come up with reasons not to exercise.  I will give you 1,000 reasons why you need to but here are my top reasons.  #1 God gave you an amazing body (same as an Olympic athlete) and if you don’t use it you lose it!   #2 the benefits are endless- more energy, better brain function, you feel good, look good, which rolls over into being a better mom, wife, friend, and employee #3 God cares about how we take care of our body and if you don’t believe me just pray “Lord please give me the motivation to exercise” and look out!  #4 It’s Fun – when you find activities you love, people you love, and keep trying something new it really becomes fun!

swim workout This morning a few of my amazing friends did a swim workout (Melissa and Amy the girls in the back both swam in college so they couldn’t wait to kick my butt in the pool).  It was something new and scary (because I sink better than I swim) but it was fun and they got us special pink swim caps for the occasion!!

#4 Just Do It – Don’t over think it and just move every day!  Try some of my 2 minute challenges at Shannonclelli on Instagram or on our You Tube Channel linked above!  Before long exercise will be a great habit, like brushing your teeth!

On your mark, get set, go!!!

WATER – “Why is it so important?”

Drop Falling into Water

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve heard many stats on water and the importance that it plays in our lives on so many levels.  We drink it, we cook with it, we use it to wash everything.  Our world is made of of 2/3rd’s water and up to 60% of the adult human body is comprised of water!  God made water so important to our bodies, that in just a couple of days you could die without enough water.  I guess the question becomes then, “How much water do we really need? ”  I’ve seen many different and complicated answers to this question and in truth, God is probably the only one who knows how much we really need.  A simple and easy way to make sure you are getting enough water is to take your body weight in pounds and divide it by 2.  That’s it and all the water you need to stay hydrated and keep your body healthy!  If you weigh 150 pounds, you need 75 ounces of water per day.  I started to follow this rule about 3 1/2 years ago and I can’t tell you how much better I feel.  On work-out days I actually tend to drink a little more,  especially on the days I workout with Shannon.

  • An easy tip is to measure how much water is in your favorite water bottle and then know how many times you have to fill it up daily.

This same rule applies to your children!  I know a challenge for me and my 6 year old is always making sure she drinks enough water, especially while she is at school.  Recently we had her do an activity where she figured out how much her body needs in a given day, measured out her bottles and shared with her the importance of staying hydrated.  We have even started giving her rewards when she comes home with an empty water bottle.   (I’m praying she is not dumping it out in school, but the rewards seem to be helping!)

God used WATER in so many different ways throughout the bible!  He flooded the earth during the days of Noah!  Moses parted the “Red Sea” to deliver his people.  The stories of water playing a significant role in the bible are endless.  I have to say that for me, most importantly, water is a symbolism of Baptism.  Last September, after much prayer and consideration my husband and I decided to get Baptized together.  We had both been baptized as children however we wanted to fully commit our lives to God.  The bible states in Acts 2:38 ” Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  We were both ready to take that next step and proclaim Jesus the Messiah as the only one who can cleanse us of our sins and renew our faith!!    We are both still works in progress, but accepting Jesus as our Savior and getting Baptized as adults has truly changed us!

So my prayer for everyone is that you seek God daily and find out why ” WATER” is so important in your life, not just from a physical perspective, but from a spiritual perspective.  I truly believe that He would not have made water so significant in every aspect of our lives, just because!!  Stay healthy spiritually and physically, make sure you drink your daily dose of water in His word and in your glass!!!

Daily Dose

How Awesome Is God?

The first post on our new blog would have to start with FAITH!

As snow is falling out my window I can’t help but be humbled by how amazing God is.
“God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding He says to the snow fall on the earth, and to the rain shower be a mighty down pour.
So that all men He has made may know His work,
He stops all man from his labor.”
Job 37:14
In the book of Job, God goes on to question Job about all the incredible things in nature that we don’t have a clue about. “Have you entered the storehouse of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail?” Job 38:22
“can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the bear with its cubs?” Job 38:32.
It’s so humbling to think of how powerful and awesome God is and how small and weak I am but how beautiful that is!
Jesus said to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9 If you keep on reading you hear Paul’s conclusion, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
I’ve learned that nothing good happens for me in my own strength. I come up with ideas, I make good plans but when it’s not God’s will all I have is a big mess. When my head and heart are humble knowing how weak I really am that is when God does things I could never dream or imagine in my life.
So in light of God’s glory being displayed as He opens the store house of the snow my prayer is that we STOP!
STOP laboring, stop stressing, stop wondering and start trusting and seeking the King who has this all figured out!
