I woke up this morning and opened my Bible to this devotional!!! Feeling tired and kind of like an overstuffed turkey from all of the amazing food I’ve consumed over the past 2 days, I needed to hear this today!! The one line that hit me was “God holds us responsible for our lives and what we do with them.” It made me start thinking about my life, I can think of several times where I said that’s just not my gift! I even remember in high school having to do those Presidential Fitness tests and I could not hold my head over the bar for more than 10 seconds let alone do a pull-up! Now at 38 years old, thanks to Shannon’s boot camps I can actually do a man pull-up,even a few in a row!!! My prayer this morning is to not only set new fitness goals and challenges physically (possibly walking on my hands 🙂 ), but spiritually as well, for God to help me cultivate new gifts and talents so I can bless others through them!!
So the road to recovery for me the rest of this Thanksgiving weekend is making sure that I eat appropriate portions and making sure I have healthy options to fuel this body so that I can be full of the Holy Spirit instead of 3000++++ calories!!!
Healthy Leftover Lunch Option
Kale topped with leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, clementines, red onion and a few pecans with your favorite light dressing!!!
Healthy Cranberry Sauce Recipe
1 Bag of Fresh Cranberries
Boil cranberries with 1 cup of water, 1/2 C of coconut sugar and zest from 1 orange. Once boiling, cover and reduce to a simmer. Simmer until cranberries are soft. Let cool and sprinkle with pistachios or your favorite nut.
