“Burying Our Talents”

I woke up this morning and opened my Bible to this devotional!!! Feeling tired and kind of like an overstuffed turkey from all of the amazing food I’ve consumed over the past 2 days, I needed to hear this today!! The one line that hit me was “God holds us responsible for our lives and what we do with them.” It made me start thinking about my life, I can think of several times where I said that’s just not my gift! I even remember in high school having to do those Presidential Fitness tests and I could not hold my head over the bar for more than 10 seconds let alone do a pull-up! Now at 38 years old, thanks to Shannon’s boot camps I can actually do a man pull-up,even a few in a row!!! My prayer this morning is to not only set new fitness goals and challenges physically (possibly walking on my hands ūüôā ), but spiritually as well, for God to help me cultivate new gifts and talents so I can bless others through them!!

So the road to recovery for me the rest of this Thanksgiving weekend is making sure that I eat appropriate portions and making sure I have healthy options to fuel this body so that I can be full of the Holy Spirit instead of 3000++++ calories!!!

New Discoveries

I had some new discoveries this past week…..
I finally walked on my hands….to some this is not exciting but for me it has been something I have wanted to do for so long.¬† Set small goals, take baby steps, never give up and you can do anything!!! (Next goal is to walk around the room:)

You can watch my small victory here:)http://youtu.be/dHLbrbKOUJg

I also learned I can’t live without my shake.¬† I went off Shakeology for almost two weeks to see how I would feel.¬† Well I wanted to eat my house all day every day.¬† My skin got breakouts and I really didn’t feel good.¬† Last Monday I went back to having my shake for breakfast and I’m a new women.¬† Energy without coffee all day, no cravings (that is just crazy for me), not hungry (which is crazier) because I am always hungry.¬†¬† So my experiment proved that my body responds so well to all the nutrition in the shake and helps me to be satisfied!!! Here was the shake I had all week, it’s new favorite!

This last discovery wasn’t and isn’t fun but God’s overwhelming lesson this past week is that He makes ALL thing beautiful!
Ecclesiastes 3:11 which says,¬†“God has made everything beautiful for its own time.”
No matter how terrible a season of life is He promises to use it for good and Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good¬†of those who love him, who¬†have been called¬†according to his purpose.”

Back when I went to church, prayed and read my bible speratically I was a mess in my regular life.  I was filled with stress, worry, and no peace.  When life got hairy in the past I turned to food to ease my stress. I would get angry and depressed and eat, which in turn made me more angry and depressed.
This week God has carried me through a rough season of life and I am humbled by what an amazing God we have.  He wants us to know Him, to follow Him, and give Him everything so He can give us something more beautiful then we could dream or imagine for ourselves.
When I met God on the side of the road at 29 years old, I gave Him my life.¬† I said “take me, mold me, shape me into who you created me to be and use it for your glory!”¬†¬† This time I meant it. I had said those words before but I was still holding on to my plans and my ideas. It wasn’t until I truly gave Him my life that I saw His power and who He really is!
#1 Our God is big…bigger then everything in your life, bigger then your small plans, bigger then your greatest fear.¬† He is so big!!
#2. He’s got it all figured out…you can try, you can plan, you can worry yourself to death…but it won’t change a thing! He has great plans for those who trust Him.
#3 He loves us soooo much!!! He wants us to trust Him, to know Him, and to love Him more then anything in this life!  He says when you seek me you will find me.
#4 It won’t always be easy but He promises to make all things beautiful!

As I start a new week especially the week of Thanksgiving I am thankful for everything God has done in my life.¬† Every new discovery is shaping me into who He has called me to be, and I’m thankful for everyday that I get another chance at discovering all He has in store!!

I don’t and won’t ever get everything right but as long as I keep my heart and eyes on Him I know everything will be ok!!!
With love,

Sundays in the “Fall”

The fall is absolutely my favorite time of the year! Beautiful Autumn leaves, the best sunrise’s and harvest sunsets that you will see all year long. This past Sunday Shannon and a group of girls that we workout with, met for a 6:30am run!!! My husband actually came too, which was really fun! We met at Peace Valley Park and braved the 29 degree weather for a 10K run! I have to say one of the girls put it best, she said “I could totally feel God’s presence.” She was absolutely right, there is no better time to work out than in the morning before the craziness of the day starts, you can clear your mind, spend time getting closer to God, and enjoy his amazing scenery! Best of all when you are meeting other people, chances are you won’t keep hitting the snooze button and sleep in, which is what I really wanted to do!!

“He who rests in the shelter of the Most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

After our run my husband and I went home to enjoy our Family Tradition of pancakes on Sunday’s. Yes every Sunday we make pancakes, healthy and gluten free of course, but they still taste amazing! We made Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes and after a long run they were absolutely delicious!

Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes
1 1/2 C Spelt Flour
1 T Organic Sugar
1/4 t Baking Soda
2 t Baking Powder
1/4 t Salt
1 Egg
1 C Pumpkin Purée
1 t Vanilla
1 1/2 C Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
2 T Melted Butter
Toasted Pecans

Sift all the dry ingredients, add everything else, mix until well blended and then cook them on a griddle, sprayed with Coconut Oil. Sprinkle with toasted pecans and serve!! Make sure to use 100% maple syrup for no added sugar.

How do you enjoy spending your Sunday mornings???

Fabulous Friday’s!!

I’m sure some are wondering is this really 2 Chicks Get Fit and does Becca really exist???? ¬†Well, not sure why its taken me this long and I can’t even begin to make a list of excuses, but since Shannon kicked off the week with “Marvelous Monday”, I thought it would be great to end the week with Fabulous Friday!! ¬†I truly love Friday’s, after a busy week of work and running the kids to and from school I truly cannot wait to take a breather on the weekends! ¬†So if you have forgotten what I look like, here is a quick “Selfie” of me and the family!!! ¬†(Charlie never looks at the camera, ever!)

Family Fun weekend Shot

Last weekend, we decided to take a much-needed “Family Trip” up to Westchester County in NY. ¬†There is so much to do in the Hudson Valley area, awesome Farmer’s Markets and amazing restaurants always top my list, however the highlight of the weekend was traveling to the “Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture” with the girls! ¬†We had the opportunity to take a family tour of the farm to see how they grow all of their vegetables and raise their animals in the most picturesque setting! ¬†What I loved the most is the fact that my girls were actually eating spinach and kale right from the garden. ¬†There is truly no better way to get your kids to eat healthy foods then to show them where they come from!!

Gracie with the most AMAZING Kale!

Gracie with the most AMAZING Kale!

We came home on Sunday night after an amazing weekend together as a family and read our Daily Devotional as we sat down for dinner. ¬† The scripture was “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.” ¬†Luke 12:22 ¬†¬†It was definitely God speaking to our entire family in that one moment, Gracie looked at me and smiled as a read this scripture. ¬†I started thinking how often do I worry about what to wear, how I look and even worrying about the foods that we eat as a family. ¬†Yes, we need to eat healthy and yes I want my kids to eat healthy, but my main goal in my life is to teach my children to lead their lives for God and in all that we do keep him the center of our priority and the rest will fall into place! ¬†It’s about finding that balance in your life with God at that center and I pray continually that in all that I do I don’t forget the one most important thing and that’s resting in the presence of the Lord each and every day and asking him to help me accomplish all of the things he has for me that day. ¬†Whether it’s getting to the gym at 5:30 am to meet my crazy cousin(Shannon) for a killer work-out, rushing the kids out the door for school and then putting a full day of work in, without him I will walk in the dark and when I’m with him, his light shines through me!!! ¬†I need this as a constant reminder that we get one life, one journey, all to share his glory, I pray that I continue to keep him my priority each and every day to make not just Fabulous Friday’s, but every day filled with his GRACE, LOVE and JOY!!!! ¬†Have a fabulous start to your weekend!!!!

“Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” ¬†2 Corinthians 4:6

Marvelous Monday (a few days late)

So it is Thursday, and I started this post on Monday as a recap of my weekend but hopefully you don’t mind it’s a little late. Also, this is my first time doing a post from my cell phone so hopefully it works!!😆

I know I post our family devotional a lot but it somehow always fits with what God is showing and teaching me!  When I trust God with my life He is guiding me into who He created me to be!  Not who I WANTED to be, but BETTER then I could have ever imagined for myself.
This weekend was busy!¬† Friday morning Becca and I had a photo session with the amazing  Stacy Salvatori for our little blog (that has some big things coming).¬† Friday night I worked at my smoothie shop so one of my girls that works for me could go to a concert.¬† My husband was working at our house so I took 4 kids to work…good times!!

Saturday morning we (a group of girls Becca and I know workout with) ran in a fun little 5k as fast as we could and went out to breakfast after (Sooo good…Egg white veggie omelet and pumpkin pancakes with walnut syrup…its all about balance)!¬† After breakfast a friend that stayed at the race let me know I got second place, CRAZY!! (Becca would have been right beside me but she was enjoying some much needed family time!)

Sunday I got to do something completely outside my comfort zone (that seems to be the theme of my life lately) I had a cooking class!  Me, little old me had a group of women to my kitchen and shared all my meal prep tricks with them!

It was so much fun and from the feedback I actually gave them great new tools to help them eat healthy!!

I can’t wait to do this again!!

I want everyone to know a few things about me
#1 I’m not confident- before everyone came over for the cooking class my mind flooded with self doubt, fear and pure insecurity!   I prayed “Lord, I am nothing, I have nothing, and all I have is what you have given me….fill me, use me, and help me to get out of your way!!” He did, and it was amazing!!
#2  Before I ran the race I prayed “Lord, I have nothing, I am nothing, and everything I can do is only because of you.”  During the race I wanted to stop in my own strength (it was really hilly and I was running fast) but I just pressed into God and He carried me!
#3  I CANT do ANYTHING it in my own strength!  Only when I am pressing into God and seeking His will for my life do I have victory!!  That goes for big things and small (like the laundry and food).

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10

Have you ever let go? Have you ever thrown your hands in the air and said “I can’t do it!” and allow God to work in your life?
