Don’t Rely On Your Strength!

I used to always complain of a lack of self control, and a lack of motivation.  In reality this only happens when I’m living in my flesh, when I’m thinking about myself and not God.  Because when my focus is God I have an abundance of self control, and a motivation that is not of this world, even towards doing the laundry!  bible verse Isaiah 41:28-31 (I did use this verse before but it’s a good one Winking smile)

If you aren’t stretched in your daily life, and you don’t NEED God you are missing out.  How can God be glorified if you do what you can do?  Only when we do what we can’t, God get’s all the glory. 

Running is something I never thought I could do.  I was the chubby girl who had to walk the mile during the middle school fitness test (lot’s of scares from those stupid tests).  Today running has become a place that God speaks to me and often because I don’t think I can run without Him because “I’m not a runner”.  So what does someone who’s not a runner do? Signs up for a half marathon?  Actually, Becca signed us up and we would love for you to join us here. Yesterday was the first time we went for an extended run since the fall (because we aren’t fans of the treadmill).  Becca says, “Let’s just do 5 miles”, I’m like “sure” thinking to myself, I’m going to die.  God carried me through it and reminded me that running is a wonderful time to spend with Him.  So here we go, my first half marathon trainingSmile

Keep taking those steps towards F.R.E.E.D.O.M. Relying on God to teach you how to take care of the amazing body you have been given!

Back on the Wagon

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day filled with love and some special treatsSmile  I made the best chocolate cake ever that you have the recipe for here!  So after a day of being put into a sugar comma, what do you do?

First… Spend time with God, it went a little like this!  Me (Shannon) “ Dear God, Thank you so much for such a great day yesterday, and I thank you for that wonderful thing called sugar and thank you for not allowing it to tempt me today! Amen”

God says “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Next, this morning we did an amazing work out – first we did the Crossfit Filthy Fifty


Don’t let it scare you, we use this as a bench mark.  We probably do it once a month just for the fun of seeing how much we can improve.  You can modify everything and just do what you can, it’s a great challenge!  This video below gives tips on doing most of the moves but there are plenty of videos to show you how to do this workout!  We would love to hear if you try it!

As if that wasn’t enough we finished off with our 20 minute sweat session on the treadmill can you sense the funWinking smile

Now to take care of those leftovers, you should read our rules for leftovers here. The amazing cake couldn’t be thrown in the trash, and the temptation would kill me if it’s in the fridge so guess what I did?


That’s right folks, it is cut in perfect portions and in the freezer OUT of SITE!

It is totally ok to have a sweet treat here and there as long as you keep 90% of your diet clean.  My struggle has always been that once I start eating sugar and carbs I can’t stop and it becomes torture.  So like I said before, I treat it with caution!

Today isn’t just Valentine’s Day at our (Shannon’s) house, it is also my baby girls birthday!


This little miracle has changed my perspective on soooo many things and God has used her to teach me so many lessons!

#1  With God all things are possible!

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”Matthew 19:26

When I found out I was pregnant I have never been so scared!  My babies were 7,6, and 4 I thought I was done with the baby stage.  I had given EVERYTHING away!  I thought I was in good shape, after having 3 kids I didn’t think I looked so bad but now 4 Surprised smile!  We have a very small house, we had a small car, how in the world could I handle a business, homeschooling, and a newborn?!?!?  Yes, totally impossible with man but not for God!

#2  God’s plans for our life are better than we could ever imagine!

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3:20

My dreams and plans were the complete opposite of what my life currently looks like.  I can’t stress to everyone enough, NO MATTER how wonderful you think your ideas are for your life, when you give your life to God He will ABSOLUTELY do “immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine”.  This will look different for everyone but God knows you perfectly and knows how to give you happiness better than you could ever find it for yourself!

#3  God guides, God provides!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

This is just one little verse, but the bible is loaded front to back with story after story of people trusting God and Him Always providing every need. It’s also filled with people not trusting God and making a big mess of their life.  The lesson is that we can’t worry or stress about anything but in all things trust God and He will never leave us.  We got a new car, we are moving to a new house, and the icing on the cake is a body that looks better then it ever has Surprised smile Seriously God is amazing!!!

Whatever your dream is for your life, I challenge you to let it go and let God’s plan be the only plan you seek, but hang on tight because it will be crazy, amazing, and more fun than all you could ever imagine!

Just Give Up…..

It is so easy to give up on our goals, and anything else we find to tough to bear.  I must admit I’ve given up on laundry 1,236 times. I even bought hampers for EVERY room so it extends my vacation from laundry.  In thinking about my reasons for staying focused on why I do all that I do it hit me.

Monday and Tuesday this week I didn’t want to work out, that’s right folks, even someone who loves exercise isn’t always motivated.  The beautiful thing that happens when I physically can’t or don’t want to do something is I finally Give Up and Give it to God.  So I prayed both mornings for the motivation and strength to not only exercise but to have fun and feel His strength in it.  Ohhh my ladies, Becca can vouch for this, it is incredible what God is capable of even in the smallest areas of your life!!


So today, anything you don’t want to do or feel the need to complain about GIVE UP!!!  Give it to God, pray for the motivation, find the JOY in all your are doing and know that He is your boss!! What good is being miserable when you can be joyful, even doing the laundry?

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”  1 Corinthians 10:31

All Day Every Day Cookies!

I hope you had a great weekend and even if you didn’t remember there is NO GIVING UP, every day is a new day and a Clean SlateSmile (go to that link to try our laundry basket workout if you haven’t already). We also hope you have a better reason why You Do What You Do  so you stay motivated for all the right reasons.  Now get ready, maybe you should sit down…..that’s right we have an EVERY DAY ALL DAY COOKIE!

Oh to be able to eat cookies all day!!! Well ladies this could be the healthiest cookie EVER!


Every Day All Day Cookie

1 1/2 cups of chopped carrots (or baby carrots)

1 large zucchini cut in chunks

3 frozen slices of Ezechial Bread


1tsp of vanilla

1tsp of baking powder

1Tbl of cinnamon

Blend all ingredients in a food processor or good blender than in a separate bowl mix

1 cup of old fashioned oats

1/8cup of Truvia or sweetner of choice

1/4cup of white chocolate chips chopped good

Mix all together and drop by rounded teaspoon on a sprayed cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 for 15-20 min. depending on how done you would like them!  These are loaded with good stuff and I wouldn’t even call them a cookie but more of a veggie, hope you enjoy!

turkey meatballs

The ways to use them are endless but here are some ideasSmile

Turkey Meatball Parm

A little sauce, mozzarella, on a lightly toasted Joseph’s Pita bread (love them)!


Turkey Meatball Soup

This is super healthy and an ultimate comfort food, does it get any better?

IMG_99511 Tbl olive oil, 1 onion chopped, 3 celery stalks chopped, 2 garlic cloves – sauté in a large pot

Then add 2- 32 oz. cartons of low sodium chicken stock and bring to a boil

add 1/2 tsp of black pepper, 1 head cabbage chopped, 3 chopped carrots

Simmer 10 min. stirring occasionally

  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style stewed tomatoes, drained and diced, and a tsp of italian seasoning and let simmer another 5-10 min. Then add your turkey meatballs!

The Reason We Do What We Do

Get Ready we’ve got a Weekend Challenge for you……

It’s not a crazy workout or an insane cleanse (lol… gross)!

 It is time to figure out

Why you do What you Do?


Do you ever think about why you do any of the things you do?  What drives you, what motivates you, what holds your priorities and why?  Is it money, what others think of you, pride, fear, love, or is it what God thinks of you that motivates you in all you do?

This week I (Shannon) was learning about angels and how God’s angels worship Him all their days and go and do whatever He asks them to.  God’s angels protect us, help us, guide us, and answer our prayers as God directs them.  I want to be just like the angels, in that I want to worship God and go and do whatever He asks me to, and have Him be the only reason I do what I do.

When we stand before God one day (which everyone will) will our reasons “we do what we do” be worth it?

You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: ” ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’ “So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God ( Romans 14:10-12 )

My (Shannon’s) biggest struggle right now is not allowing my health and fitness to become my idol. I need to keep remembering that this isn’t about me but about giving glory to God and showing the world what amazing things He can do with your life when you give it to Him!

I (Becca) have been struggling in this area in a different way.   These past weeks have been crazy I’ve been stressed with my job, I worry about my kids and husband, and we are in the middle of renovating our home in addition to just managing the everyday aspects of life. I’m exhausted and stressed and I know it’s not what God wants for me. This week I was reading the book of Isaiah Chapter 44 and it was talking about Idols and a Carpenter who took wood and used it for fire for warmth and to help prepare his meal and the rest he used for an Idol.  I was thinking to myself, how crazy that back in the biblical times so many people idolized so many things, like fake gods, statues and even wood?  I was thinking to myself, how crazy, why would anyone  worship a piece of wood???   Then it hit me like a lightening bolt, my worries were the carpenters wood! When I allow all of my worries to consume my life, they quickly become my idol and a distraction from God’s plan for my life.

I then re-read a great verse in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 that I must have highlighted quite some time ago:

” Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

 I need to stop worrying about all of these little problems, give them to God, not let them become my idol and fix my eyes on Him and His eternal plan for me!!  So moral of the story, my plan this weekend is to give my idols to God and let Him be the reason I do all that I do.

“For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us.”  Isaiah 33:22
